Feeding People Through RAGBRAI

This summer Marshalltown will be an overnight town for RAGBRAI. First Presbyterian Church is planning to participate in this opportunity to be a hospitable city and to fundraise for some important local non-profits. We have a RAGBRAI committee that has decided to host a supper. For $20 people will receive a lasagna supper with breadsticks, fruit, and dessert. All of the money raised will go to meeting food insecurity in Marshalltown by supporting Emergency Food Box, House of Compassion, and our own little pantry. Last time RAGBRAI stopped in town we raised over $8,000 by hosting a meal. We hope to raise a significant amount of money again this year.

However, for any of this to work, we need volunteers. We are guessing we will need 40-50 volunteers throughout the day on July 22, especially while we are actually serving supper from 4:30-7:30 that evening. We will also need help with preparing food the 2 or 3 days ahead of time and with tear down and clean up afterward. We would really appreciate if you would consider marking July 22 on your calendar and planning to help with the meal. If you are part of a community group, please invite them to consider volunteering with us to help us raise money for these community non-profits.

In the coming weeks you will see sign up sheets out and we would appreciate knowing if you can volunteer.
