Lee Wilkinson, co-chair of the Missions & Evangelism Committee, shared this RAGBRAI recap:

RAGBRAI Blessings

Just a few months ago five hundred RAGBRAI riders joined us at First Presbyterian Church to fight food insecurity in Marshall County. We shared lasagna, garlic bread, salad, and desserts, and their contributions are helping us fight hunger. Again, thank you to all of our church members and friends of the church that donated their time to prepare the meal and the desserts as well as contributing their time to serve the meal. I’ll be honest, it still chokes me up think about how God blessed us with so many caring people who didn’t give a second thought about pitching in and helping those in Marshall County who are battling food insecurity.

Along with all that church members and friends did, we were blessed with generous support from Barilla Pasta, Casey’s, Hy-Vee, and Fareway. Since we were blessed with all this additional support, our expenses were significantly lower, and we were able to share $6,670 with those who are working to ease hunger in Marshall County. The breakdown of where the $6,670 went includes:

· House of Compassion - $2,000

· Emergency Food Box - $2,000

· 22* Little Food Pantries in Marshall County - $100 each for a total of $2,200

· First Presbyterian Church pastors to help individuals in need - $200

· First Presbyterian Church Food Pantry - $270

News of the blessings provided through God’s grace has been shared through the Presbytery newsletter here.

News of our RAGBRAI Dinner even went beyond the borders of our state. A Nightline Producer was on RAGBRAI and shared this story on their program.

God is amazing!

We were truly blessed with this opportunity to be the hands and feet of God.
