Fairhaven School
One of the international groups the Mission Committee supports is Fairhaven School in Alexandria, Egypt. Fairhaven serves children and adults with special needs and disabilities. This is one of the few schools in all of Egypt that serves this population. The school was started and continues to be supported by Saray Evangelical Church in Alexandria. The video below shows more about Fairhaven.
As you read this, Tom Bower and I are in Alexandria visiting Fairhaven, Saray Church, and other groups with whom Tom and Jean have been involved over their years of connection to Egypt. I am exploring the possibility of continuing the connections between Presbyterian churches in Central Iowa and those in Alexandria. If this goes forward, I hope it would include growing and deepening the connection between First Presbyterian Marshalltown and Fairhaven School.
Please pray for Tom and I as we travel and fellowship with the people of Egypt. Ask God to equip us with the words to speak and the right questions to ask. Pray for the administrators and teachers and students at Fairhaven and for Saray Church. Thank God for the wonderful work they are doing and ask Him to bless these ministries. Pray also for wisdom and imagination as I consider how First Presbyterian might develop closer connections with Fairhaven.
I am grateful to the church for allowing me the time away to explore this mission opportunity and I appreciate your prayers as I consider how God is at work in these connections.
