God's love usually brings about a desire to tear down walls, but we recently heard about a wall that actually fixes a growing problem and will provide for a better future. Anibal & Elizabeth Mazariegos, missionaries we support in Guatemala, sent us an update about just such a wall.
Proverbs 17:17
It is truly wonderful to have people God has sent to help you in difficult times.
In our small community in Escuintla, Guatemala, due to the harsh winter, the ground was eroded by water right behind the school building and the feeding area. This is also the place where we play games and do other activities with the kids.
The ground became so eroded that vehicles couldn't enter the community, putting the school building, the children, and especially a family living nearby at risk.
But now, thanks to God, Pastor Bill, and the members of Cornerstone Church in Michigan, we have been able to build a retaining wall and fill in the area. With this work, we are safe and can play again.
May God bless you, and thank you for loving us.
Anibal & Elizabeth also shared a video of the work. Those of us who went to Guatemala will recognize the danger the erosion caused. We parked, ate, worked, and played in the area behind the school. Thanks be to God for the wall that will protect this community space and a family home and those who built it. Thank you also, God, for Anibal & Elizabeth and the work they are doing in this special community.
